A SENATE RESOLUTION

THANKING JOHN SULLIVAN FOR HIS TWENTY-EIGHT YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, HONOR HIS EXCEPTIONAL TALENTS AND ABILITIES, AND WISH HIM MUCH SUCCESS IN ALL OF HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE.

Whereas, John Sullivan, as a young man, made the conscience decision to dedicate his life to the service of South Carolina and its citizens; and

Whereas, John nobly achieved his goal by serving his State as an exemplary employee of the South Carolina Department of Revenue for more than twenty-eight years. He began his career as an auditor with the Florence district office, served as the corporate tax supervisor, the Aiken District Manager, and then was appointed as the Department of Revenue's Collections Administrator for South Carolina; and

Whereas, John's devotion to his duties at the Department of Revenue, his creative thinking, his innovative ideas, and his attention to detail ensured the State received millions of dollars in additional tax revenue during his career and for future years to come; and

Whereas, John's pleasant personality, his likable manner, and his disarming wit endeared him to his co-workers at the Department of Revenue and to his peers from branches of federal, state, and local governments with whom he worked; and

Whereas, John Sullivan, as the Department's Collections Administrator, was always willing to share his experience, his time, and his abilities with his subordinates; and

Whereas, John's value to the Department of Revenue and to the State of South Carolina is exceeded only by his value to his family and his friends. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, will always remember John Sullivan as a devoted husband and father, a dedicated public servant to the State of South Carolina, a man of exceptional talents and abilities, and a man who never met a stranger.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. John Sullivan.
