A SENATE RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING ROMIE SIMMONS FOR HIS OUTSTANDING CITIZENSHIP AND FOR FIFTY YEARS AS A BARBER ON MAIN STREET IN SUMMERVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, Romie Simmons was born on August 7, 1937; and

Whereas, Mr. Simmons graduated from Summerville High School in 1957, and is a graduate of the Jacksonville Barber and Beauty College; and

Whereas, Mr. Simmons has been a barber on Main Street in Summerville, South Carolina, for fifty years; and

Whereas, Mr. Simmons has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Dorchester Boat Club for forty years, where he has maintained all scheduling for the Boat Club; and

Whereas, Mr. Simmons has been a member of the Summerville Baptist Church for fifty-nine years; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the Senate to extend their sincerest thanks to Mr. Simmons for his years of service as a barber in his community. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, recognize and applaud Mr. Romie Simmons for his service to the citizens of Summerville and for his long and successful career as a barber and wish him well in the future.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Romie Simmons.
