A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 50-9-510, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO HUNTING LICENSES FOR SMALL GAME GENERALLY; AND TO AMEND SECTION 50-9-540, RELATING TO STATEWIDE FISHING LICENSES, SO AS TO REDUCE THE FEE FOR A STATEWIDE HUNTING LICENSE, A STATEWIDE FISHING LICENSE, AND A STATEWIDE COMBINATION LICENSE FOR MEMBERS OF THE UNITED STATES ARMED SERVICES WHO ARE CONSIDERED RESIDENTS OF THIS STATE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 50-9-510(1) of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 372 of 1996, is further amended to read:

"(1)    For the privilege of hunting throughout South Carolina, a resident of the State shall purchase an annual statewide license for twelve dollars, of which one dollar may be retained by the issuing agent; provided, that a member of the United States Armed Forces and their dependents who are considered residents of this State as defined in Section 50-9-30(A)(1)(b) may purchase the license required by this item for a fee of five dollars, of which one dollar may be retained by the issuing agent."

SECTION    2.    Section 50-9-510(3) of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 100 of 1999, is further amended to read:

"(3)    For the privilege of hunting and fishing, including the privilege of hunting big game throughout South Carolina, a resident of the State shall purchase a combination fishing and hunting license for twenty dollars, of which two dollars may be retained by the issuing agent; provided, that a member of the United States Armed Forces and their dependents who are considered residents of this State as defined in Section 50-9-30(A)(1)(b) may purchase the license required by this item for a fee of ten dollars, of which two dollars may be retained by the issuing agent."

SECTION    3.    Section 50-9-540(A) of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 372 of 1996, is further amended to read:

"(A)    For the privilege of fishing throughout South Carolina, a resident of this State shall purchase an annual statewide license for ten dollars, of which one dollar may be retained by the issuing agent; provided, that a member of the United States Armed Forces and their dependents who are considered residents of this State as defined in Section 50-9-30(A)(1)(b) may purchase the license required by this item for a fee of five dollars, of which one dollar may be retained by the issuing agent."

SECTION    4.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
