TO EXTEND THE WARMEST CONGRATULATIONS OF THE SENATE TO OUR FRIEND, THE HONORABLE SEBASTIAN PHILLIP LENSKI, FOR HIS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO THE SENATE, UPON HIS ELECTION AS JUDGE OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA ADMINISTRATIVE LAW COURT, AND TO WISH HIM THE VERY BEST IN HIS NEW ENDEAVOR.

Whereas, the members of the Senate, with great pride, congratulate Sebastian Phillip Lenski upon his election as Judge of the South Carolina Administrative Law Court; and

Whereas, Sebastian Phillip Lenski was born in Iola, Kansas on December 29, 1963, the son of the late Dr. Francis Xavier Lenski and Carol Sue Lenski Kruise of Colorado. He graduated with honors from the University of Denver in 1986 and Emory University School of Law in 1989; and

Whereas, upon graduation, he served his country on active duty at Fort Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska for nearly six years as a Judge Advocate for the United States Army and continues this service as a member of the United States Army Reserves; and

Whereas, from 1995 to 2002, Phil served as Counsel for the Department of Insurance and the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, ably representing these agencies in the courts of South Carolina; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate greatly appreciate the more than seven years of service Phil has rendered to the Senate, serving as both Counsel to the Clerk and Senior Staff Counsel to the Judiciary Committee; and

Whereas, in February 2003, Phil was called to serve his country in Iraq and Kuwait and upon his return then Major Lenski was elevated to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel; and

Whereas, since 2005 Phil has served as Senior Staff Counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee, where he has been instrumental in crafting family law legislation and historic immigration reforms that have played a crucial role in shaping the public policy of the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, Phil is one of the most delightful, knowledgeable, and effective staff members of the South Carolina Senate who participates in the business of the Senate in a manner that has brought great credit upon himself and this body. In the Senate, he has developed a reputation for having a keen intellect which has made him a universally respected resource on the most complex issues facing our State; and

Whereas, Phil is imminently qualified to be a Judge of the South Carolina Administrative Law Court. The ability to communicate in his trademark clear, concise, and persuasive manner coupled with his vast legal experience will serve well the citizens who appear in his courtroom; and

Whereas, though his public accomplishments are many, Phil is also a devoted family man. He is the husband of Laura Brant Lenski and the proud father of three sons: Jacob, Joseph, and Michael; and

Whereas, it is therefore with a sense of tremendous pride that the members of the Senate say goodbye to our dear friend Phil Lenski as he leaves the Senate of South Carolina to become an Administrative Law Judge and wish him Godspeed and much success in this new chapter of his life. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, extend the warmest congratulations to our friend, the Honorable Sebastian Phillip Lenski, for his distinguished service to the Senate, upon his election as Judge of the South Carolina Administrative Law Court, and to wish him the very best in his new endeavor.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Honorable S. Phillip Lenski.
