VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE RACHEL M. WHITLEY, COMMUNITY/REGIONAL EXECUTIVE SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF THE NATIONAL BANK OF SOUTH CAROLINA, ON THE OCCASION OF HER ELECTION AS CHAIRMAN OF THE NORTH MYRTLE BEACH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR 2010-2011.
Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is pleased to note that Rachel M. Whitley, community/regional executive senior vice president of the National Bank of South Carolina, has been elected chairman of the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce for 2010-2011.
Whereas, a native of North Carolina, Rachel moved to North Myrtle Beach in 1972; and
Whereas, in further preparation for her life's work, Rachel earned a bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina Coastal Carolina College cum laude in 1984 and later undertook graduate studies at Webster University. Having also completed South Carolina Banking School at the University of South Carolina in Columbia in 1985, she finished the Graduate School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University in 1989; and
Whereas, in 1973, she took up her duties as a teller with the Farmers Bank in North Myrtle Beach, which later became the National Bank of South Carolina. In her thirty-seven years of service with the bank, Rachel has held several positions, ranging from loan clerk to her current position as community/regional executive senior vice president; and
Whereas, believing strongly in community involvement, Rachel, a graduate of Leadership Grand Strand, has invested time in a number of worthy organizations. She has served as Eastern South Carolina Chairperson Robert Morris Associate and presently serves on the South Carolina Department of Mental Health Waccamaw Regional Board, Santee Cooper Customer Advisory Board for Horry and Georgetown counties, and North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce Board; and
Whereas, for her exemplary service, she has received various awards, including 1990 Woman of the Year for the Grand Strand Business and Professional Women's Association, and she is a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow; and
Whereas, the members of the Senate take great pleasure in congratulating Rachel Whitley on this, her latest achievement, election as chairman of the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce. It is an honor befitting the distinguished service she has already rendered to the people of her fair community and this great State. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate Rachel M. Whitley, community/regional executive senior vice president of the National Bank of South Carolina, on the occasion of her election as chairman of the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce for 2010-2011.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Rachel M. Whitley.
