VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR MIKE HUNT, ASSISTANT CHIEF OF THE ANDERSON COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT, UPON BEING NAMED THE 2008 ANDERSON COUNTY FIREFIGHTER OF THE YEAR, AND TO EXPRESS DEEP GRATITUDE FOR HIS DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF HIS COMMUNITY.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Mike Hunt, assistant chief of the Anderson County Fire Department, has been named the 2008 Anderson County Firefighter of the Year; and
Whereas, a veteran of nineteen years of firefighting, Mr. Hunt is a faithful member of his volunteer firefighting force and is deservedly admired and respected by his colleagues; and
Whereas, accepting and fulfilling his responsibilities with professionalism and excellence, he has volunteered as a captain and an assistant chief at Centerville Fire Station while working as a developer with D & H Development Company; and
Whereas, although he has battled cancer for several months and cannot presently fight fires, Mike Hunt has continued to serve the department as he can, working with an upbeat attitude at everything from cleaning up the station to completing paperwork to rolling hoses at fire scenes; and
Whereas, the commitment of this man of integrity and humility to firefighting is as inspiring to the citizens of Anderson County at large as it is to his colleagues, and all who know him are gratified to learn that Mr. Hunt's health treatments have met with success; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives congratulates Mike Hunt for receiving the 2008 Anderson County Firefighter of the Year Award, and the members wish him much success as he continues to serve the citizens of Anderson County in days ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Mike Hunt, assistant chief of the Anderson County Fire Department, upon being named the 2008 Anderson County Firefighter of the Year, and express their deep gratitude for his dedicated service to the citizens of his community.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mike Hunt.
