A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND THE SUMMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL ADVANCED WOMEN'S CHORUS, ELEGANZA, FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURAL HERITAGE FESTIVAL AND WINNING NUMEROUS AWARDS AT THE FESTIVAL, AND TO WISH THEM MUCH SUCCESS IN THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, Eleganza, the Summerville High School Advanced Women's Chorus, participated in the 2009 Inaugural Heritage Music Festival in Washington, D.C. with nearly 5,000 musicians in choruses and bands from across the United States and other countries; and

Whereas, Eleganza won Gold and placed first in the Women's Chorus division; and

Whereas, Eleganza was awarded the Spirit of Washington, D.C. Award, which was presented to the school that best represents their community and school at the 2009 Inaugural Heritage Festival; and

Whereas, the following young women, Christina Bohannan, Melissa Brewer, Natasha Douglas, Jo Anna Eason, Samantha Ellenburg, Tiffany Elliot, Jesica Ferguson, Kara Groves, Elizabeth Hughes, Sarah Jones, Emily Lawrence, Megan Llewellyn, Sarah Lima, Eric McCarley, Jessica McLean, Sarah Miller, Hannah Motter, Melissa Nettles, Ryan Prather, Sarah Reddy, Logan Riley, Sarah Sopko, Olivia Souther, Natalie Spencer, Bridgette Stample, Miranda Wahby, Bre-Ana Woods, and Brittany Wren, under the direction of Ms. Vivian E. Jones, admirably represented the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, the Senate of the South Carolina is proud to recognize such an extraordinary group of young musicians. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, commend Eleganza, the Summerville High School Advanced Women's Chorus, for participating in the Presidential Inaugural Heritage Festival and winning numerous awards, and wish them much success in their future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Summerville High School Advanced Women's Chorus.
