TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE PINEWOOD PREPARATORY SCHOOL GOLF TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING SEASON AND FOR CAPTURING THE 2009 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, AND TO HONOR THE TEAM'S EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS, COACH, AND STAFF.

Whereas, the Pinewood Preparatory School golf team, seasoned with hard work, bested Porter-Gaud by twelve shots on April 28, 2009, to nail the 2009 South Carolina Independent School Association Class AAA State Championship title; and

Whereas, committed to building a championship quality team, Coach Greg Baechtle trained and led his players to the top past some worthy opposition; and

Whereas, the Panthers carried with them into the title match a record of two state wins in the past three years, and their 2009 conquest made it three out of the past four, with the most recent wins being back to back. This time, they finished with a two-day total of five hundred seventy-two, wrapping up with their largest margin of victory ever; and

Whereas, known for responding well under pressure, Pinewood bettered its 2008 championship record by twenty-eight shots, making the present victory all the sweeter; and

Whereas, Pinewood fans rejoiced to see senior Kamito Hirai, junior Austin Cody, and eighth grader Richard Hubbard named to the SCISA All-State golf roster, and Austin Cody added another trophy to the team's bag when he finished first in the individual championship bout with a 7 under par total of 137; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives, proud of the Pinewood golf team's recent achievements, is pleased to pause in its deliberations to congratulate the team's fine players on winning the 2009 state title, and the members wish the team much continued success in years to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Pinewood Preparatory School golf team for its outstanding season and for capturing the 2009 South Carolina Independent School Association Class AAA State Championship, and honor the team's exceptional players, coach, and staff.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Headmaster Glyn Cowlishaw and Coach Greg Baechtle of Pinewood Preparatory School.
