To whom was referred a House Resolution (H. 4358) to memorialize Congress to urge fair treatment of our United States Navy SEALs in all matters military and civil, and to urge a general showing of support for our nation's, etc., respectfully
That they have duly and carefully considered the same and recommend that the same do pass:
HERB KIRSH for Committee.
TO MEMORIALIZE CONGRESS TO URGE FAIR TREATMENT OF OUR UNITED STATES NAVY SEALS IN ALL MATTERS MILITARY AND CIVIL, AND TO URGE A GENERAL SHOWING OF SUPPORT FOR OUR NATION'S ARMED FORCES.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives supports the men and women in our nation's military unwaveringly, and particularly those in elite units such as the Navy SEALs; and
Whereas, the Navy SEALs undergo specialized training under rigorous conditions designed to prepare them to protect and defend American citizens and their valued freedoms aggressively; and
Whereas, these elite sailors train for night gliding in difficult weather, hand-to-hand combat with specialized weaponry, underwater demolition in frigid waters, and a vast array of expert combat for the modern world of warfare; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives were saddened to learn of charges that were brought against Navy SEALs after their successful capture of one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq; and
Whereas, these dedicated SEALs need the guarantee of a grateful nation that their constitutional right to confrontation in a military courtroom will be protected; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are grateful for the continual sacrifice of the men and women in the United States Armed Forces and seek their ardent support from the United States Congress. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, memorialize Congress to urge fair treatment of our United States Navy SEALs in all matters military and civil, and urge a general showing of support for our nation's Armed Forces.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the President of the United States Senate, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, and each member of the South Carolina Congressional Delegation.
