VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE WOODRUFF HIGH SCHOOL OF SPARTANBURG SCHOOL DISTRICT FOUR ON BEING NAMED TO NEWSWEEK MAGAZINE'S 2010 LIST OF AMERICA'S BEST HIGH SCHOOLS.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to note that Woodruff High School of Spartanburg School District Four has been named to Newsweek magazine's 2010 list of America's Best High Schools; and
Whereas, among sixteen schools in the Palmetto State tapped for the honor, Woodruff High was ranked number 586 in the Newsweek national listings; and
Whereas, this annual ranking is based on rigorous course offerings and student performance in those courses. Only 6 percent of public high schools in the nation made the list; and
Whereas, Newsweek ranks schools based on the number of college-credit tests, like Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate, taken by students, divided by the number of graduating seniors from the previous year; and
Whereas, with much community support for academic rigor, Woodruff High challenges students through a variety of Advanced Placement courses, all of which are available to any student who is interested; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in recognizing Woodruff as one of the nation's best high schools, and the members expect to hear of continued great achievements in the years ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Woodruff High School of Spartanburg School District Four on being named to Newsweek magazine's 2010 list of America's Best High Schools.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Principal Aaron Fulmer of Woodruff High School.
