TO CONGRATULATE MR. ROSCOE CHEESEBORO OF CALHOUN COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF HIS NINETY-SEVENTH BIRTHDAY, AND TO WISH HIM A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND CONTINUED HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that Mr. Roscoe Cheeseboro of Calhoun County will celebrate his ninety-seventh birthday on July 20, 2010; and
Whereas, affectionately known as "Rev", Mr. Cheeseboro was born on July 20, 1914, in the Town of Saint Matthews, South Carolina, just a few years after the dawn of the twentieth century, and has witnessed nearly all of the incredible changes and developments that have transformed our nation and world from that time into the twenty-first century; and
Whereas, the son of Alonzo and Celia Zeigler Cheeseboro, he was educated in Calhoun County at Providence Elementary School; and
Whereas, he was married to the late Edna Harmon Cheeseboro, and together they proudly raised nine children. His children have blessed him with eighteen grandchildren, forty-five great-grandchildren, and twenty-one great-great-grandchildren; and
Whereas, a man of God whose songs and prayers are an integral part of his daily life, Mr. Cheeseboro is a member of Providence African Methodist Episcopal Church where he serves in the senior choir; and
Whereas, his past-times include calling his community's sick and shut-in individuals, attending senior citizen activities at the local center every day, whittling, hunting, and gardening; and
Whereas, in recognition of his ninety-seventh birthday, Mr. Cheeseboro's family and friends will host a birthday celebration on July 17, 2010, at Providence African Methodist Episcopal Church; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives is proud to honor this man of God and son of South Carolina at the celebration of his ninety-seventh birthday and joins his family and friends in congratulating him on reaching this extraordinary milestone. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Mr. Roscoe Cheeseboro of Calhoun County on the occasion of his ninety-seventh birthday, and wish him a joyous birthday celebration and continued health and happiness.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Roscoe Cheeseboro.
