TO REQUEST THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NAME THE SECTION OF HIGHWAY 521, IN SUMTER COUNTY, FROM THE ITS INTERSECTION WITH HIGHWAY 441 TO ITS INTERSECTION WITH CHARLES JACKSON ROAD THE "FIREFIGHTER EUGENE FRANKLIN MEMORIAL HIGHWAY" AND ERECT APPROPRIATE MARKERS OR SIGNS ALONG THIS PORTION OF HIGHWAY CONTAINING THE WORDS "FIREFIGHTER EUGENE FRANKLIN MEMORIAL HIGHWAY".
Whereas, Eugene Franklin was a firefighter and gave his life in the line of duty serving his community as a firefighter. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly request that the Department of Transportation name the section of Highway 521, in Sumter County, from the its intersection with Highway 441 to its intersection with Charles Jackson Road the "Firefighter Eugene Franklin Memorial Highway" and erect appropriate markers or signs along this portion of highway containing the words "Firefighter Eugene Franklin Memorial Highway".
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation.
