A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE UPON THE DEATH OF HENRY MCKAY NORRIS OF CAMDEN AND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mr. Henry McKay Norris of Camden, South Carolina on Thursday, May 13, 2010; and

Whereas, born in Camden, he was the son of the late Henry T. and Allies Price Norris; and

Whereas, he was a graduate of Camden High School and Newberry College; and

Whereas, Mr. Norris was a U.S. Marine veteran, earned the American Spirit Honor medal for outstanding leadership, and served in the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart; and

Whereas, Mr. Norris retired as an employee from DuPont with forty-one years of service and was a member of First Baptist Church in Camden; and

Whereas, Mr. Norris generously supported the good works of charities in his community and around the State, specifically children's homes such as the Connie Maxwell Children's Home; and

Whereas, Mr. Norris's greatest joy in life was his family, especially his wife, Betty Sue Wilson Norris, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate express their profound sorrow upon the death of Mr. Henry McKay Norris and extend their deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mr. Henry M. Norris.
