TO CONGRATULATE CHRISTINA WALKER, TEACHER AT RIDGELAND MIDDLE SCHOOL IN JASPER COUNTY, FOR BEING NAMED JASPER COUNTY TEACHER OF THE YEAR FOR 2007-2008, AND TO EXTEND SINCERE APPRECIATION FOR HER MANY CONTRIBUTIONS TO MUSIC EDUCATION IN SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, Ms. Walker diligently pursued her childhood dream of becoming a music educator and has been teaching students the joys of music for eight years; and
Whereas, Ms. Walker considers her greatest accomplishment to be building the Band program at Ridgeland Middle School from the ground up; and
Whereas the Ridgeland Middle School Band program now involves ten percent of the entire Ridgeland Middle School population; and
Whereas Ms. Walker has educated and trained students who have been chosen to participate and have excelled in the South Carolina All-Region Honor Band, the University of Georgia Midfest Honor Band Clinic, and the South Carolina Solo and Ensemble Festival; and
Whereas Ms. Walker looks forward to new endeavors and future accomplishments as a music educator. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate Christina Walker, teacher at Ridgeland Middle School, on being named Teacher of the Year for Jasper County School District for 2007-2008, and extend sincere appreciation for her many contributions to music education in South Carolina.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Christina Walker.
