A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-25-125 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A PERSON WHO APPLIES FOR A CERTIFICATE TO BECOME A TEACHER IN THIS STATE SHALL REGISTER TO VOTE IN ORDER TO RECEIVE A TEACHING CERTIFICATE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Article 3, Chapter 25, Title 59 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 59-25-125.    A person who applies for a certificate to become a teacher in the public schools of this State shall, in addition to other requirements, register to vote."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
