A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO REMEMBER AND RECOGNIZE THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE LATE MR. BROADUS BROOKS GWINN, JR., A VALUED MEMBER OF THE LAURENS COUNTY TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE.

Whereas, Mr. Broadus Brooks Gwinn, Jr. was a valued member of the Laurens County Transportation Committee from 2006 until his untimely death in July 2010; and

Whereas, although he had no prior experience with road condition evaluation and repair, he immediately volunteered to ride with another member to learn what to look for in road evaluations; and

Whereas, while he was founder and owner of a business that was a full-time job, he was always available for meetings or necessary evaluations, and his business acumen and congenial personality provided valuable input to committee discussions and decisions; and

Whereas, Mr. Gwinn was also a member of the Palmetto Masonic Lodge, the Hejaz Shrine Temple, and the South Carolina Department of Transportation Board, and he also served in the South Carolina National Guard; and

Whereas, he was a beloved husband to Mrs. Jean Gwinn for forty-six years and enjoyed many friends; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate take great pride in honoring the life of Mr. Broadus Brooks Gwinn, Jr. for his many contributions to Laurens County and our great State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, wish to remember and recognize the contributions of the late Mr. Broadus Brooks Gwinn, Jr., a valued member of the Laurens County Transportation Committee.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mr. Broadus Gwinn.
