A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE ADAM BRICKNER OF GREENVILLE FOR HIS DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF SOUTH CAROLINA AS PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES ASSOCIATION OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, Mr. Adam Brickner has extensive experience and expertise in the field of substance abuse, addictions, and recovery, and proven success coordinating diverse systems of care, government, and non-profit agencies to collaborate effectively to improve community quality of life; and

Whereas, since July 2008, Mr. Brickner has served as Executive Director of the Phoenix Center, Greenville County's alcohol and drug abuse authority, and he is responsible for implementing Greenville's strategic plan to improve quality of substance abuse prevention, treatment, and recovery services for the citizens of Greenville County; and

Whereas, Mr. Brickner has increased access to outpatient treatment, improved utilization of detoxification services, provided leadership training to top management of the Phoenix Center, and brought national leaders to train his staff on Motivational Enhancement Therapies; and

Whereas, during his tenure as President of the Behavioral Health Services Association (BHSA) Board of Directors, he has worked with the state's thirty-three local substance abuse service providers to ensure that services are offered in all forty-fix counties of our State; and

Whereas, each year, the member agencies of BHSA provide direct intervention and/or treatment services to more than 50,000 individuals; and

Whereas, Mr. Brickner has worked with the South Carolina Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services to forge new partnerships, advocate legislative changes, implement new strategies, and effect changes in public policies designed to promote the public's health and safety in the home, school, community, workplace, and highway. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, hereby acknowledge Adam Brickner for his dedicated service to the people of Greenville County and the State of South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Adam Brickner and the Behavioral Health Services Association.
