VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-101-282 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A MEMBER OF THE GOVERNING BOARD OF AN INSTITUTION OF HIGHER LEARNING MAY NOT SERVE MORE THAN THREE CONSECUTIVE TERMS ON THE BOARD.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Article 1, Chapter 101, Title 59 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-101-282. Notwithstanding another provision of law or special provision applicable to a particular institution, a member of the governing board of an institution of higher learning may not serve more than three consecutive terms on that board."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
