VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE THE NORTHWESTERN HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM ON ITS UNDEFEATED SEASON AND IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2010 CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, supremely ready for the challenge, the Northwestern High School football team nailed the 2010 Class AAAA State Championship title, defeating Greenwood 42-10 on December 3, 2010; and
Whereas, Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia echoed with the shouts of exuberant Trojan fans, pleased to see their confident predictions of victory realized. The Trojans dominated the game practically from the opening whistle to come up with a perfect ending to a perfect 15-0 season; and
Whereas, Northwestern also celebrated its first undefeated season in varsity football since the school opened in 1971, the Trojans' first state title since 2003, and their third win out of eight title matches; and
Whereas, such victories do not come overnight; they take determination and hard work. With proven consistency in both, Coach Jimmy Wallace has built his football program into a championship team that refuses to settle for second best; and
Whereas, making a scintillating season even brighter, standout senior quarterback Justin Worley broke nearly every career passing record in the State and set single-season marks with his sixty-four touchdown passes. He was also named South Carolina's State and National Gatorade Player of the Year and South Carolina Football Coaches Association Offensive Player of the Year; and
Whereas, the Trojans have brought great pride and recognition to their school and community, and the members of the House of Representatives are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such a wonderful group of young athletes. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate the Northwestern High School football team on its undefeated season and impressive win of the 2010 Class AAAA State Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal James A. Blake II and Coach Jimmy Wallace of Northwestern High School.
