VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE BAMBERG-EHRHARDT HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING TEAM ON A STELLAR SEASON, AND TO CONGRATULATE THE TEAM AND COACH CODY SLAUGHTER FOR PINNING DOWN THE 2011 CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were pleased to learn that the Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School wrestling team took home the Class A state duals trophy after defeating defending champion Chesterfield High School 35-32 on February 12, 2011; and
Whereas, since the 1A classification began its own duals tournament in 2006, there had been only one first-place finisher. That all changed at Dreher High School on February 12, when the Red Raiders finally broke Chesterfield's grip on the hardware in the finals; and
Whereas, making a sweet victory all the sweeter, it was Bamberg-Ehrhardt's first state wrestling win in school history; and
Whereas, in a sport that requires mental stamina, strategy, and strength, Coach Cody Slaughter used his own athletic ability and training to forge a championship team and set a standard of individual excellence that will prove invaluable to these athletes throughout life; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the pride and recognition that the Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School wrestling team has brought to its school and community and expects to hear of future accomplishments from these fine young athletes. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School wrestling team on a stellar season, and congratulate the team and Coach Cody Slaughter for pinning down the 2011 Class A State Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Randall L. Maxwell and Coach Cody Slaughter.
