VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 8-1-15 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT AN INDIVIDUAL WHO OWES THE STATE ETHICS COMMISSION UNPAID FINES OR OTHER MONIES MAY NOT BE ELECTED, REELECTED, OR APPOINTED TO A PUBLIC OFFICE WHOSE QUALIFICATIONS ARE NOT DEFINED IN THE CONSTITUTION.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 1, Title 8 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 8-1-15. An individual who owes the State Ethics Commission unpaid fines or other monies may not be elected, reelected, or appointed to a public office whose qualifications are not defined in the Constitution of this State."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
