A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE BATTALION CHIEF CLEVELAND PAUL BOWEN UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE TAYLORS FIRE DEPARTMENT AND TO WISH HIM THE BEST IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, Battalion Chief Cleveland Paul Bowen is retiring after thirty-eight years of selfless service to the community and citizens of Taylors, South Carolina; and

Whereas, Chief Bowen has proven his willingness to help and assist others in times of need and he has been an example to the men and women who served with him, and a role model for those who have worked under him; and

Whereas, Chief Bowen has a long history of service to others. Before he started in the fire service, he served his country in the U.S. Air Force where he learned valuable lessons and principles that would guide him throughout his life and career; and

Whereas, Chief Bowen has been a constant example of selfless service, courage, leadership, commitment, and friendship and is known among the men who serve under him as someone they can depend on; and

Whereas, his firefighters are always made a priority and he has been known to drive whatever distance necessary to attend funerals, weddings, and other events in the lives of his personnel; and

Whereas, even when not on duty, Chief Bowen has been known to offer help with a ride or a helping hand with a task; and

Whereas, Chief Bowen has earned the utmost respect of his crew, their families and friends, and his family. His children and grandchildren are ever present priorities in his life; and

Whereas, Chief Bowen has continued to seek improvement for himself, his personnel, and the department as a whole and he continues to seek education through the State Fire Academy, taking classes to expand his knowledge and abilities; and

Whereas, the citizens of Taylors and especially the members of the Taylors Fire Department will truly miss B Shift Commander, Chief Bowen, and hope to continue to see him in his retirement every third morning filling that "Ole Bubba Keg" with coffee at the firehouse; and

Whereas, it is fitting for the members of the Senate to pause in their deliberations to honor the contributions of this great South Carolinian. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, honor and recognize Battalion Chief Cleveland Paul Bowen upon his retirement from the Taylors Fire Department and to wish him the best in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Chief Bowen.
