A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE LACY MONDAY DUNCAN, A NATIVE OF HAMPTON COUNTY, ON THE OCCASION OF HIS NINETY-SECOND BIRTHDAY, AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that Lacy Monday Duncan, a native of Hampton County, celebrated his ninety-second birthday on January 1, 2012; and

Whereas, born on January 1, 1920, young Lacy came into this world in the early part of the twentieth century, and he has been witness to many of the incredible changes and developments that have come to this nation from that time into the twenty-first century; and

Whereas, he was educated at Shirley School in Shirley. Marriage brought him and his wife, Annie H. Duncan (now deceased), a fine family of six children, Lacy, Jr., Queen Elizabeth, Benjamin, Elzena, Claudia, and Cyloria, who have given their parents the joy of thirteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and

Whereas, during his working years, Mr. Duncan was employed by Coastal Glass Company in Estill, Union Camp in Hardeeville, and Brunson Childcare Development Center in Brunson; and

Whereas, a man of faith, he serves his God as a member of Hopewell CME Church; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives is pleased to honor this son of South Carolina at the celebration of his ninety-second birthday and joins with his family and friends in congratulating him on reaching this extraordinary milestone. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Lacy Monday Duncan, a native of Hampton County, on the occasion of his ninety-second birthday, and wish him continued health and happiness.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Lacy Monday Duncan.
