A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE PENDLETON HIGH SCHOOL BULLDOGS VARSITY BOYS GOLF TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON, AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2012 CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the Pendleton High School Bulldogs varsity boys golf team of Anderson County took top honors at the state competition on Tuesday, May 15, 2012; and

Whereas, to the delight of their fans, the Bulldogs defeated the Battling Bishops of Bishop England High School by four shots after two days and 36 holes in the state tournament to seal their claim to the state trophy on the last hole; and

Whereas, the black and gold posted a total of 296 for Pendleton on the first day and 314 on the second day for a 610 total; and

Whereas, the Bulldogs' Carson Young won the individual state championship with scores of 67 and 74 on the two days, and teammate Austin Langdale took honors as the state runner-up with scores of 71 and 72; and

Whereas, golfers for the Bulldogs in the state tournament included Carson Young, Austin Langdale, L. D. Coker, Trevor Rochester, and Brandon Vaught; and

Whereas, in a sport that demands strategy, proficiency, and rigorous practice, Head Coach Tim Wood and his skilled coaching staff capitalized on their own athletic ability and training to forge a championship team and teach these athletes lessons that will prove invaluable through the fairways of life; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the pride and recognition that the Pendleton High School varsity golfers have brought to their school and their community and look to hear of their continued accomplishments in the days ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Pendleton High School Bulldogs varsity boys golf team, coaches, and school officials for an outstanding season, and congratulate them for winning the 2012 Class AA State Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Heather Gordon and Coach Tim Wood.
