VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR MICHELIN DEVELOPMENT, AND TO EXPRESS APPRECIATION FOR THE CORPORATION'S WORK IN MICROENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT IN THE UPSTATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that Michelin Development provides loans to start-up companies in the Upstate of South Carolina, focusing on socially and economically disadvantaged businesses in order to spur economic growth; and
Whereas, reserved for citizens of South Carolina, these loans are offered to those who would not normally have access to traditional financing, which not only allows South Carolinians to achieve lifelong dreams of owning their own businesses, but also creates jobs and stimulates the state's economy; and
Whereas, Michelin Development offers low-interest loans ranging from ten thousand to one hundred thousand dollars, as well as access, for up to five days and free of charge, to business expertise to assist client-companies with specific problems, projects, and issues; and
Whereas, since Michelin Development opened its Greenville Office in 2009, it has awarded over two million dollars to small businesses and has created hundreds of jobs in Abbeville, Anderson, Cherokee, Greenville, Greenwood, Laurens, Oconee, Pickens, Spartanburg, and Union counties; and
Whereas, Michelin, with its United States headquarters in Greenville, employs more than 7,700 workers in the State and operates four tire plants, a truck tire retreading plant and two tire component manufacturing plants. Also in South Carolina Michelin has a research-and-development campus and a test track; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives take great pleasure in honoring the Michelin Corporation for its work in microenterprise development and look with interest to hear more stories of the continued success of this microenterprise program which provides critical economic growth to South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the South Carolina House of Representatives by this resolution, recognize and honor Michelin Development, and express appreciation for the corporation's work in microenterprise development in the Upstate of South Carolina.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to John Tully, President of Michelin Development.
