A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR LIEUTENANT LISA A. MCCRAY OF CHARLESTON COUNTY FOR OVER TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE IN THE FIELD OF LAW ENFORCEMENT.

Whereas, with deep appreciation, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives honor, on behalf of all South Carolinians, the great sacrifice that the men and women of South Carolina law enforcement, such as Lieutenant Lisa A. McCray, make for the safety and protection so richly enjoyed in this State; and

Whereas, Lisa McCray earned a bachelor's in sociology with a minor in criminal justice from Claflin University and then joined Charleston County Sheriff's Office in 1987; and

Whereas, through the years, Lieutenant McCray has courageously patrolled the streets of Charleston County, worked in the detective office and the judicial courts, and assisted with several metro/narcotics investigations before being promoted; and

Whereas, for nine years, she worked in numerous supervisory positions in the Training Unit with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office and was trained as a driving instructor for the Law Enforcement State Academy in Columbia, where she instructed new recruits; and

Whereas, Lieutenant McCray completed Basic Law Enforcement and graduated from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, and she has completed specialized training from the Command Institute for Law Enforcement Executives, the FBI's Law Enforcement Executive Development Administration Training, and Racial Profiling Train-the-Trainer; and

Whereas, dedicated to serving the community, she currently works in the Community Relation Office for the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, where her varied accomplishments include the recent creation and implementation of a website link to the office's website for the public to access key information on how citizens can protect their homes and community; and

Whereas, among her numerous meritorious citations, Lieutenant McCray has received the Supervisor of the Quarter Award, the One Hundred Club of South Carolina Achievement Award, and the Albert T. Leppert Award. Involved with Project Cool Breeze for the past twelve years, she received the Project Cool Breeze Community Award from the City of Charleston; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the uncommon commitment to the safety of our citizens exhibited by Lieutenant McCray and express their appreciation on behalf of all in our State who enjoy the benefits afforded by the dedicated men and women of law enforcement. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Lieutenant Lisa A. McCray of Charleston County for over twenty-five years of outstanding service in the field of law enforcement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Lieutenant Lisa A. McCray.
