A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR JOSEPH COLE GOOD, JR., CHIEF COUNSEL FOR THE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT, AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS AND FULFILLMENT IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives have learned that Joseph Cole Good, Jr., soon will begin a much-deserved retirement after twenty-four years of distinguished service as chief counsel for the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC); and

Whereas, in preparation for his life's work, Joe Good earned a bachelor's degree at Wofford College, where he served as president of the student body. In 1970, he graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law; and

Whereas, having completed his education, he served the South Carolina Attorney General as an assistant attorney general for three years, followed by thirteen years of service at SCE&G. Joe Good took up his duties at MUSC in 1988 and has served there since that time with distinction; and

Whereas, Joe Good believes strongly in active community involvement, and he demonstrates that conviction through service on numerous boards and committees. Among other activities, he presently serves as president of the board for South Carolina Crime Stoppers and the South Carolina Association for the Blind and is a member of the Rotary Club in both Columbia and Charleston and the South Carolina Navy League; and

Whereas, a man of faith, Mr. Good finds spiritual strength as a member of the French Huguenot Church, which he serves as a deacon and member of the board; and

Whereas, married since 1969 to Virginia St. Claire Craver Good, he and his wife have been blessed with a fine family of two children, Katharine Steed Everett Good Festner and Joseph Cole Good III, as well as one delightful grandson; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives, grateful for the legacy of consistent commitment and excellence Joe Good has bestowed on the people of South Carolina, takes great pleasure in wishing him well as he enters retirement and trusts he will find much enjoyment in the more leisurely pace of the days ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Joseph Cole Good, Jr., chief counsel for the Medical University of South Carolina, upon the occasion of his retirement, and wish him continued success and fulfillment in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Joseph Cole Good, Jr.
