VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-101-440 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT NO MORE THAN TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT OF THE ENTERING CLASS OF A PUBLIC INSTITUTION OF HIGHER LEARNING OF THIS STATE MAY BE COMPRISED OF STUDENTS WHO RESIDE OUTSIDE THE STATE, AND TO EXCLUDE TECHNICAL COLLEGES FROM THIS PROVISION.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Article 1, Chapter 101, Title 59 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-101-440. Notwithstanding another provision of law, no more than twenty-five percent of the entering class of a public institution of higher learning of this State may be comprised of students who reside outside the State. The provisions of this section do not apply to technical colleges."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
