A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE EASLEY COMBINED UTILITIES FOR PROVIDING SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY FOR ONE HUNDRED YEARS.

Whereas, Easley Combined Utilities (ECU) is an electric, water, and wastewater utility provider part of the Easley community and takes great pride in providing reliable, quality service to its neighbors and surrounding community; and

Whereas, in 1911, the City of Easley created the Municipal Waterworks System and the Municipal Electric System; and

Whereas, in 1953, the City passed an ordinance that combined the Municipal Waterworks System and the Municipal Electric System into a Combined Utility System governed by a Commission of Public Works; and

Whereas, in 1959, the City passed an ordinance integrating the sewer system into the Combined Utility System of the City of Easley and authorized a bond issue for system expansion; and

Whereas, Combined Utility System of the City of Easley adopted the name Easley Combined Utilities in 1998; and

Whereas, ECU's investment in critical utility infrastructure over the years has allowed Easley and surrounding areas to experience healthy growth that has allowed for an increase in the quality of life for all citizens; and

Whereas, the mission of Easley Combined Utilities is to provide a reliable supply of water, wastewater, and electrical service, at the best possible value, to the residents of Easley and surrounding areas; and

Whereas, ECU is a prime example of local people working together for the benefit of all. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, honor and recognize Easley Combined Utilities for providing service to the community for one hundred years.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Easley Combined Utilities.
