A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY UPON THE DEATH OF MR. JACK A. VILLEPONTEAUX, VICE PRESIDENT OF BERKELEY ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE, INC., AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mr. Jack A. Villeponteaux, Vice President of Berkeley Electric Cooperative, Inc. in Moncks Corner, S.C., on May 9, 2011, at the age of sixty-three; and

Whereas, Jack was a graduate of Camden Military Academy and attended Pembroke College. He was a member of Moncks Corner United Methodist Church, Berkeley Chamber of Commerce, and Mt. Pleasant Rotary Club, and he served as a legislative lobbyist for Berkeley Electric Cooperative; and

Whereas, he dedicated his life to God, his family, and his community, and he served on numerous organizational projects as a leader and participant for the betterment of his fellow man; and

Whereas, he spent thirty-eight years passionately serving the members of Berkeley Electric Cooperative, Inc.; and

Whereas, Jack brought visionary ideas and enthusiasm to the staff of Berkeley Electric Cooperative during his tenure. With his passing, Berkeley Electric Cooperative and the State of South Carolina have lost a true friend and devoted leader; and

Whereas, Jack offered trusted counsel to hundreds of members of the South Carolina General Assembly over the years for the betterment of the State and its cooperatives; and

Whereas, Jack leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Wanda, his son Jeffrey, and a host of other relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the death of Mr. Jack A. Villeponteaux, former Vice President of Berkeley Electric Cooperative, Inc., and extend the deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Wanda Villeponteaux.
