A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO THANK MR. DAVID MARING FOR HIS LEADERSHIP IN PROTECTING PERSONS FACING BANKRUPTCY AND FOR CHAMPIONING LEGISLATION PROVIDING A TENFOLD INCREASE IN THE HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION.

Whereas, Mr. David Maring provided outstanding leadership in the effort to pass legislation protecting persons faced with bankruptcy; and

Whereas, Mr. Maring championed legislation that provided for the homestead exemption to increase tenfold; and

Whereas, Mr. Maring recognized the need to respond to federal bankruptcy reforms; and

Whereas, new homestead exemption limits will allow more people affected by the Great Recession to keep their homes; and

Whereas the Senate of South Carolina finds it fitting to thank Mr. David Maring for his leadership in protecting persons facing bankruptcy in incredibly uncertain economic times. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate of South Carolina thanks Mr. David Maring for his leadership in protecting persons facing bankruptcy by championing legislation providing a tenfold increase in the homestead exemption.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. David Maring.
