A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR RUSSELL C. MUNN OF COLUMBIA FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE PALMETTO STATE AND TO THE CLIENTS HE PASSIONATELY REPRESENTED BEFORE THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY.

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the South Carolina General Assembly honors those individuals who give tirelessly of themselves to the welfare of this great state's citizenry; and

Whereas, Russell C. Munn, President of Munn and Associates, stands among a number of outstanding private citizens, one much admired in his role as both a businessman and lobbyist; and

Whereas, in preparation for his extraordinary career, Russell Munn earned a bachelor's degree at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, where he competed as a member of the university's golf team; and

Whereas, after gaining experience in the banking profession early in his career, Mr. Munn transitioned to the business of lobbying and governmental affairs, where he worked diligently over the next thirty-three years; and

Whereas, Russell has steadfastly represented a wide range of clients such as the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, CSX Corporation, Special Olympics, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, International Game Technology, the South Carolina Dry Cleaners Association, the South Carolina Association of Nurse Anesthetists, and the title lending and payday lending industries; and

Whereas, his career has spanned six Speakers of the House, five Lieutenant Governors, seven Governors, and the partisan power shift in both houses; and

Whereas, Russell C. Munn was often lightheartedly referred to as the Assistant Speaker of the House under Speaker Rex Carter and the acting Chairman of House Judiciary under Chairman Bobby Kneece; and

Whereas, Mr. Munn also served as a mentor and employer to many current South Carolina lobbying professionals; and

Whereas, Russell is a proud father of three grown children and is soon to be a proud grandfather; and

Whereas, the General Assembly wishes to express its gratitude for Russell C. Munn's thirty-three years of faithful service to his clients, representing their issues and concerns to the fullest extent of his abilities. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and honor Russell C. Munn of Columbia for his many years of outstanding service to his clients and the people of South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Russell C. Munn.
