VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE GOOSE CREEK HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AN UNDEFEATED SEASON, TO CONGRATULATE THEM ON TWENTY-SIX CONSECUTIVE VICTORIES, AND TO DESIGNATE THEM AS 2012 "SOUTH CAROLINA ATHLETES OF DISTINCTION."
Whereas, a powerhouse not to be underestimated by its opponents, the Goose Creek High School football team once again has risen to its own high standard and turned in a 13-0 undefeated season for 2012. In every game, the Gators bared their teeth to some purpose to extend the winning streak begun in a previous year to twenty-six; and
Whereas, ranked during the season as number 1 in the State and number 11 in the country, Goose Creek, the Region 7 Class AAAA Division II champs, built its three-year record to 40-2 and led South Carolina Class AAAA in scoring and rushing; and
Whereas, in addition, the Gators played on national TV ESPNU, defeating Cane Bay 55-0, and one of their own, Tramel Terry, was named 2012 Mr. Football for South Carolina; and
Whereas, in a sport that demands strength, skill, and determination, Coach Chuck Reedy and his fine coaching staff capitalized on their own athletic prowess to forge a first-class team and teach their athletes lessons that will prove invaluable through life both on and off the gridiron; and
Whereas, the General Assembly appreciates the recognition that the Goose Creek High School football players have brought to their school and community, and the members look to hear of the team's continued accomplishments in the days ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Goose Creek High School football team, coaches, and school officials for an undefeated season, congratulate them on twenty-six consecutive victories, and designate them as 2012 "South Carolina Athletes of Distinction."
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Principal Jimmy Huskey and Coach Chuck Reedy.
