A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE CONWAY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL BASEBALL TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON, AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE SOUTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATION OF CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly is pleased to learn that the members of the Conway Christian School baseball team of Horry County took top honors for the second year in a row at the state competition on May 4, 2013, in Sumter; and

Whereas, as the defending state champs, the Eagles faced off against Fountain Inn Christian School for the second straight year, posting a 7-2 finish to bring home another trophy for a matching pair of state championships; and

Whereas, the victory was made all the sweeter when the Conway Christian School Lady Eagles' softball team went three extra innings on the same day to defeat Hartsville's Emmanuel Christian School 9-8 to take back-to-back state trophies; and

Whereas, to the delight of their fans, the Conway Christian Eagles scored two wins against Class A public school and playoff squad Carvers Bay on their way to the state title game; and

Whereas, championship game pitcher, Jason Bargiol, also led the Eagles in hitting, recording three homeruns for the season; and

Whereas, with a seventh to twelfth grade population of only sixty-nine students, Conway Christian School has fielded two straight state championship baseball teams that have suffered only two losses in as many seasons; and

Whereas, in a sport that demands skill, strength, and strategy, Coach Tim Hutson capitalized on his own athletic ability and training to forge a championship team and teach these athletes lessons that will prove invaluable through life both on and off the diamond; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are grateful for the pride and recognition that the Conway Christian School baseball players have brought to their school and their community and look to hear of their continued accomplishments in the days ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Conway Christian School baseball team, coaches, and school officials for an outstanding season, and congratulate them for winning the South Carolina Association of Christian Schools Class AA State Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Connie Smith and Coach Tim Hutson.
