A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF DEPUTY SHERIFF TIMOTHY CAUSEY OF HORRY COUNTY AND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS LOVING FAMILY AND HIS MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Horry County Deputy Sheriff Timothy Causey at the age of fifty on May 19, 2013; and

Whereas, born in San Francisco, California, on November 18, 1962, Timothy Causey was the son of Mary Lopez Causey and Corley Causey, Jr.; and

Whereas, he married his beloved wife, Donna Strickland Causey, on December 20, 1986, and together they reared two loving daughters, Sommer Brooke and Taylor Blaire Causey; and

Whereas, after serving in United States Marine Corps with distinction from 1985 to 1989, he served with the Mullins Police Department from 1989 to 1993; and

Whereas, from 1993 to 2011, he served the Horry County Police Department and began serving the Horry County Sheriff's Office in 2011; and

Whereas, a twenty-five-year law enforcement veteran, he had only been with Horry County Sheriff's Office in the warrant division for two years when he worked security for three nights during the devastating fire at the Windsor Green community in Carolina Forest in March of 2013; and

Whereas, he enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, growing a garden and sharing its bounty with everyone, and repairing anything that needed his skill; and

Whereas, as the crew chief and engine builder for the Marlowe Racing Team, he loved his special hobby of Dirt Late Model Racing, and his team won Rookie of the Year 2012.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the life and service of Deputy Sheriff Timothy Causey and for the example of sacrifice and kindness he set for all who knew him. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Deputy Sheriff Timothy Causey of Horry County and extend their deepest sympathy to his loving family and his many friends.
