VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE COASTAL CAROLINA UNIVERSITY MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND FOR CAPTURING THE 2014 BIG SOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, the Chanticleer men's basketball team of Coastal Carolina University won the 2014 Big South Championship with a 76-61 victory over Winthrop University; and
Whereas, this victory on March 9, 2014, in the VisitMyrtleBeach.com Big South Conference Championship game represents the first conference tournament championship for the Chanticleers since 1991 and the team's first NCAA Tournament berth since 1993; and
Whereas, Coastal Carolina basketball's Head Coach Cliff Ellis will be leading a team to the "Big Dance" for the ninth time in his distinguished career, winning his first Big South Conference title and becoming just the tenth coach in NCAA Division I history to lead four different programs to the NCAA Tournament; and
Whereas, the members of the 2014 Chanticleer Big South Championship team include Kyle Buffkin, Josh Cameron, Tristian Curtis, Badou Diagne, Michel Enanga, Warren Gillis, Aaron Law, Uros Ljeskovic, El Hadji Ndiequene, Colton Ray-St Cyr, Eric Smith, Ron Trapps, Shivaughn Wiggins, and Elijah Wilson.
Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly commends the members of the Coastal Carolina University men's basketball team for its inspiring victory in the 2014 Big South Conference Championship game and appreciate the recognition they have brought to the university and to the Palmetto State. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Coastal Carolina University men's basketball team for an outstanding season and for capturing the 2014 Big South Championship title.
