A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO SALUTE THE HARTSVILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL INDOOR PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE, ITS DIRECTORS, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR WINNING THE 2014 SOUTH CAROLINA BAND DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, supremely ready to face the music, the Hartsville Middle School indoor percussion ensemble won gold, claiming the title at the 2014 South Carolina Band Directors Association (SCBDA) State Championship; and

Whereas, after the crown was secure, elated Hartsville fans began making plans to watch these outstanding musicians score a repeat victory next year; and

Whereas, Hartsville Middle School's indoor percussion ensemble, the Junior Regime, was founded in November 2013 under the direction of Scott Bullard, J. Lance Stockton, and Marlin Ketter. The group's purpose was to provide students with the opportunity to experience the percussion realm, regardless of prior experience, with possible promotion to the Regime indoor percussion ensemble at Hartsville High School to follow. The Junior Regime promotes the percussive arts throughout the Hartsville community through a variety of performance venues and audiences; and

Whereas, the Junior Regime competed for the first time in March 2013, performing its show entitled The Choice. The final performance of 2014 brought the Junior Regime its newly achieved SCBDA State Championship, the first state band title Hartsville Middle has ever received; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives takes off its collective hat to these young musicians and proudly hails the Junior Regime on its excellent seasonal showing. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, salute the Hartsville Middle School indoor percussion ensemble, its directors, and school officials for winning the 2014 South Carolina Band Directors Association State Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Meredith Taylor and Band Director Scott Bullard of Hartsville Middle School.
