A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE DEATH OF ANNETTE WATSON STOKES OF BISHOPVILLE AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, deeply saddened at the news, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives have learned of the death of Annette Watson Stokes of Bishopville on February 10, 2013; and

Whereas, born in Bishopville, Annette was the daughter of Walter Thomas and Anna Lee Smith Watson; and

Whereas, having been united in holy matrimony to Charlie T. "Bud" Stokes, Annette and her husband were blessed with two beautiful daughters; and

Whereas, she was employed with the Lee County Sheriff's Department for more than fifteen years and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church; and

Whereas, at the age of thirteen, Annette began playing piano for Bishopville's Cedar Creek Quartet. She continued this musical commitment to the group for fifty-six years; and

Whereas, she leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband; her daughters, Debbie Stokes and Vickie Richardson; a grandchild, Ashleigh Welch; a great-grandchild, Easton Aycock; and a host of other family members and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the death of Annette Watson Stokes of Bishopville and extend the deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Charlie T. "Bud" Stokes for the family.
