A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE BRAD DEAN, PRESIDENT AND CEO OF THE MYRTLE BEACH AREA CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU/CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, ON BEING APPOINTED BY U.S. SECRETARY OF COMMERCE PENNY PRITZKER TO THE TRAVEL AND TOURISM ADVISORY BOARD.

Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly is pleased to learn that Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau/Chamber of Commerce for the past twelve years, has been appointed by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker to the Travel and Tourism Advisory Board; and

Whereas, one of thirty-two members newly appointed by the Secretary to the Travel and Tourism Advisory Board, Brad Dean also serves on the board of directors for the U.S. Travel Association and Destination Marketing Association International; and

Whereas, in his new post, Mr. Dean will help promote tourism both nationally and in the Myrtle Beach area, the center of South Carolina's $18 billion tourism industry; and

Whereas, the Travel and Tourism Advisory Board was established in 2003 and advises the Secretary on matters relating to tourism. Its members consist of representatives from various businesses in the tourism industry; and

Whereas, grateful for the expertise and consistent excellence that gained him the honor, the General Assembly takes great pleasure in saluting Brad Dean on his appointment to this prestigious national board. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau/Chamber of Commerce, on being appointed by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker to the Travel and Tourism Advisory Board.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Brad Dean.
