A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE SPARTANBURG CHRISTIAN ACADEMY VARSITY VOLLEYBALL TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2014 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the Spartanburg Christian Academy Lady Warriors volleyball team took top honors at the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) state competition held at Heathwood Hall in Columbia on Tuesday, October 21, 2014; and

Whereas, in the fourth consecutive SCISA AA state title for the Lady Warriors, the 3-0 victory against Florence Christian delighted their fans as they swept the sets, 25-17, 25-13, 25-19; and

Whereas, Spartanburg Christian took the first two games handily, but in the third game the Lady Warriors fell behind 10-2 before they managed to serve and dig their way to a 15-15 tie and then serve up a 25-19 victory; and

Whereas, Peyton Thompson led Spartanburg Christian with an impressive eighteen kills, and Tinsley Fain followed with seven kills, two aces, and thirty-five assists. Teammate Addison Belcher added a pair of aces, while Mackenzie Elmore led with three blocks in the team's seventh state title in the school's history.

Whereas, Lady Warrior standout Tinsley Fain closed her high school career with a clean sweep of state championships. She was named the SCISA AA Player of the Year, leading the State in all classifications with 154 aces and second with 1,022 assists. Named to the SCISA AA North-South all-star team, she has committed to play volleyball for Gardner-Webb University in the fall; and

Whereas, in a sport that demands strength, agility, and speed, Head Coach Monica Fain and her skilled coaching staff capitalized on their own athletic ability and training to build a championship legacy and teach these athletes lessons that will prove invaluable through life both on and off court; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciate the pride and recognition that the Spartanburg Christian Academy volleyball players have brought to their school and their community and look to hear of their continued accomplishments in the days ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Spartanburg Christian Academy varsity volleyball team, coaches, and school officials for an outstanding season and congratulate them for winning the South Carolina Independent School Association Class AA State Championship title.
