INVITATIONS AND MEMORIAL RESOLUTIONS

To whom was referred a Concurrent Resolution (H. 3368) to request that the Department of Transportation rename the portion of Oakland Avenue from its intersection with Norfolk Street to its intersection with Wilson Road, etc., respectfully

REPORT:

That they have duly and carefully considered the same and recommend that the same do pass:

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO REQUEST THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION RENAME THE PORTION OF OAKLAND AVENUE FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH NORFOLK STREET TO ITS INTERSECTION WITH WILSON ROAD IN THE CITY OF FLORENCE WHICH CURRENTLY IS DESIGNATED AS "REVEREND DR. VANDROTH BACKUS WAY", "REVEREND DR. VANDROTH BACKUS WAY-A MONTFORD POINT MARINE", REMOVE THE SIGNS ERECTED ALONG THIS PORTION OF HIGHWAY THAT CONTAIN THE FORMER DESIGNATION, AND REPLACE THEM WITH SIGNS THAT CONTAIN THE LATER DESIGNATION.

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly request that the Department of Transportation rename the portion of Oakland Avenue from its intersection with Norfolk Street to its intersection with Wilson Road in the City of Florence which currently is designated as "Reverend Dr. Vandroth Backus Way", "Reverend Dr. Vandroth Backus Way-A Montford Point Marine", remove the signs erected along this portion of the highway that contain the former designation, and replace them with signs that contain the latter designation.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation.
