INVITATIONS AND MEMORIAL RESOLUTIONS

To whom was referred a Concurrent Resolution (H. 4462) to declare the month of June 2016 as "Bradley S. Blake Month" in South Carolina to honor the legacy of Bradley S. Blake, recognize the accomplishments of the, etc., respectfully

REPORT:

That they have duly and carefully considered the same and recommend that the same do pass:

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO DECLARE THE MONTH OF JUNE 2016 AS "BRADLEY S. BLAKE MONTH" IN SOUTH CAROLINA TO HONOR THE LEGACY OF BRADLEY S. BLAKE, RECOGNIZE THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE BRADLEY S. BLAKE FOUNDATION, AND TO PROMOTE THE REDUCTION OF GUN VIOLENCE IN THIS STATE.

Whereas, on May 18, 1991, Bradley S. Blake was born in Charleston, South Carolina, the youngest child of Louis and Sylvia Blake; and

Whereas, in 2010 he graduated from the South Carolina Connections Academy in Columbia, South Carolina; and

Whereas, Bradley was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Alvin, South Carolina; and

Whereas, he loved sports, music, and excelled in the field of computer game design technology; and

Whereas, Bradley tragically lost his life on December 27, 2012; and

Whereas, in his memory, the Bradley S. Blake Foundation was established to be one of the State's leading voices in reducing gun violence through its participation in the Department of Transportation's Adopt-A-Highway Program and the establishment of the Bradley S. Blake Safe Haven Support Group, Bradley S. Blake Community Awareness Day, the Bradley S. Blake Foundation Commemorative Ball, Christmas at MUSC Children's Hospital, the Bradley S. Blake Day of Thanksgiving, and the Bradley S. Blake Basketball Camp; and

Whereas, it would be fitting and proper to memorialize Bradley S. Blake and recognize the wonderful work that the Bradley S. Blake Foundation does throughout the State to promote nonviolence by declaring the month of June 2016 as "Bradley S. Blake Month". Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the month of June 2016 is declared "Bradley S. Blake Month" in South Carolina to honor the legacy of Bradley S. Blake, recognize the accomplishments of the Bradley S. Blake Foundation, and to promote the reduction of gun violence in the Palmetto State.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Bradley S. Blake Foundation.
