A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND NEIL WILLIAMS OF CHARLESTON COUNTY FOR HIS DEDICATED SERVICE TO HIS COMMUNITY AND TO WISH HIM MUCH SUCCESS AND FULFILLMENT IN THE DAYS AHEAD AS HE CONTINUES TO SERVE.

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the South Carolina House of Representatives recognizes those individuals who give of themselves to the welfare of this great state's citizenry. Such a man is Neil Williams of Charleston County; and

Whereas, for the past eight years, Mr. Williams has assisted South Carolina state Representative Wendell Gilliard with a turkey drive and the feeding of veterans and the homeless. In this endeavor, more than eight thousand people were helped; and

Whereas, this resident of Wadmalaw Island also has assisted Debi Chard, a WCSC-TV news anchor, with Toys for Tots. In one past year of service, over 5,500 children were gifted with toys; and

Whereas, at Edith L. Frierson Elementary School, Neil Williams has served as a mentor for the past seven years. During his time of service, he has mentored more than three hundred boys and girls; and

Whereas, a man of faith, Neil Williams does not neglect the service of his God. At New Jerusalem AME Church, he serves as an usher and works with various children's ministries, such as the after-school program and fundraisers for the children's choir; and

Whereas, in 2013, Mr. Williams volunteered with Feed America and helped feed over six thousand families. For his mentoring and other selfless service to the community, in that same year he was voted Man of the Year by the St. James Presbyterian Church Mass Choir; and

Whereas, Neil Williams finds strength for his labors in the strong support of his family: his wife, Carla; his five children, Trá Neil, Kéandre, Kyla, Arianna, and Lisa; and a special nephew, Edjuan Singleton; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives recognizes that the success of the State of South Carolina and the strength of its communities depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of individuals like Neil Williams who use their talents and resources to serve others. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend Neil Williams of Charleston County for his dedicated service to his community and wish him much success and fulfillment in the days ahead as he continues to serve.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Neil Williams.
