A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE RICHARD M. CAMPBELL VETERANS HOME IN ANDERSON COUNTY FOR ITS SERVICES TO THE VETERANS OF OUR STATE AND TO COMMEND THE ADMINISTRATORS AND STAFF FOR CARING FOR OUR VETERANS WITH DEEP VENERATION AND HIGHLY SKILLED TREATMENT AND SUPPORT.

Whereas, with funds provided by the federal government and the State of South Carolina, the Richard M. Campbell Veterans Home in Anderson was built specifically to serve the veterans of South Carolina who, through their steadfast defense of America's ideals, have ensured the continued strength of our great nation; and

Whereas, the Richard M. Campbell Veterans Home was dedicated by Governor Carroll A. Campbell and Senator Strom Thurmond on November 14, 1990; and

Whereas, with two hundred twenty beds, this skilled nursing facility is among the largest of South Carolina's nursing homes and creates a pleasant and complete living environment; and

Whereas, the Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home, one of the most modern of its kind in the country, welcomed its first five residents on March 4, 1991; and

Whereas, since that date, the Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home has served two thousand seventy-six veterans with trained specialists in a variety of health care disciplines, the latest in medical technology and equipment, full support services on-site, and convenient access to nearby amenities; and

Whereas, the Richard M. Campbell Veterans Home is consistently recognized and ranked as a quality provider of services by state and federal agencies; and

Whereas, under the leadership of Director John Magill and the Department of Mental Health, the Richard M. Campbell Veterans Home continues to provide quality, veteran-focused care and services in an environment of respect and honor for the service of veterans to our country; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives join the residents of the Anderson community in their sincere gratitude and appreciation for those veterans who have given so much in the defense of the freedoms we enjoy every day, and salute this wonderful facility for what it has done for our State's veterans. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Richard M. Campbell Veterans Home in Anderson County for its service to the veterans of our State, and commend the administrators and staff for caring for our veterans with deep veneration and highly skilled treatment and support.
