A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE THE COLUMBIA COLLEGE WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP IN SOUTH CAROLINA COURSE FOR ITS CONTRIBUTION TO THE SUPPORT, ENCOURAGEMENT, AND DEVELOPMENT OF WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP IN THE PALMETTO STATE.

Whereas, Columbia College strives to provide students with academically challenging programs, experiential learning, and intellectual and professional competencies; and

Whereas, the Leadership Studies Department developed the Women in Leadership in South Carolina course to promote the contributions of women to the state, further develop future women leaders, and advocate for the need of women in leadership roles; and

Whereas, the course implemented a ten week Women Lead SC speaker series that featured women to share their leadership experiences within the fields of faith and religion, business and entrepreneurship, law and management, health and medicine, non-profit, philanthropy and community engagement, media and publications, education and policy, arts and athletics, and politics; and

Whereas, this inaugural course was developed and taught by Professor Ashlye V. Wilkerson, housed under the leadership of Dr. Tamara Burk, supported by the students enrolled in the course as well as the participants and attendees of the Women Lead SC speaker series and championed by President Elizabeth A. Dinndorf. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize the Columbia College Women in Leadership in South Carolina course for its contribution to the support, encouragement, and development of women in leadership in the Palmetto State.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Professor Ashlye V. Wilkerson.
