A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO WELCOME INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED EXPLORERS DR. GINO CASPARI AND TREVOR WALLACE TO SOUTH CAROLINA AND TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE THEIR SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS ACROSS THE GLOBE.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to welcome Dr. Gino Caspari and Trevor Wallace to the Palmetto State for the 84th Running of the Carolina Cup on March 31, 2018; and

Whereas, a Swiss archaeologist and explorer, Dr. Gino Caspari is a Fulbright alumnus and Columbia University graduate. His research focuses primarily on the discovery and analysis of millennia-old graves and ruins. Years of fieldwork, rigid academic training, and a sense of adventure have led him to work in some of the wilder places on the planet; and

Whereas, Trevor Wallace is an explorer, artist, and filmmaker focused on documenting stories of the human spirit. He specializes in collaborating with remote communities and documenting expeditions in harsh environments. His films have been shown at the Polar Film Festival, the Museum of Natural History, Cannes Short Film Corner, and the World Water Forum; and

Whereas, their research together in Western China has begun to allow for the uncovering of Scythian tombs. The pair has located over one hundred graves in militarized border zones near Russia and Kazakhstan. They've also followed the trail of stolen goods from graves and spent time in traditional Kazakh villages; and

Whereas, their work together was recently recognized at the 114th Explorers Club Annual Dinner in New York on Saturday, March 10, 2018, heralding them as the next generation of exploration. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, welcome internationally renowned explorers Dr. Gino Caspari and Trevor Wallace to South Carolina and honor and recognize their significant contributions across the globe.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Gino Caspari and Trevor Wallace.
