A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE UPON THE PASSING OF BERNARD EDWARD "PETER" ROBINSON, AND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Bernard Robinson on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at the venerable age of seventy-six; and

Whereas, Bernard was born on February 4, 1940 in Aiken County to the late Myrtle and J.H. "Buddy" Robinson. The youngest of three children, Bernard was very attached to his older sisters and loved spending time with friends and family; and

Whereas, Bernard graduated from A.L. Corbett High School, earned a bachelor's degree from Benedict College, and began his accomplished career by teaching high school social studies; and

Whereas, Bernard eventually took over the family business, J.H. Robinson's Funeral Home, and worked full time side by side with his mother and father, who founded the funeral home. Bernard devoted much of his time and attention to the business, one of his life's many passions for which he will be remembered; and

Whereas, Bernard is preceded in death by his father, mother, son Bernard Terrance, and nephew Vincent Rivers; and

Whereas, Bernard leaves to cherish his memory his wife Gladys; six children, Maynard, Danielle (David) Ferguson, Tracie Love, Wendy Reyes, Dwayne Adams, and Brian Adams; two sisters, Barney Greene and Betty (Leroy) Rivers; fourteen grandchildren, Addie, Maycee, Damien, Nadia, Nya, Brian K., Torry, Trent, Conrad, Kobe, DJ, Nina, Terry, and McKenzie; devoted nieces and nephews, Charlene Rivers, Carol Holt, Cathy Hatcher, and David Joseph Green, Jr.; and a host of loving relatives and lifelong friends, whom he treated like family. He will be missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Bernard Edward "Peter" Robinson and extend their deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Gladys Robinson.
