A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO SALUTE THE CAMBRIDGE ACADEMY GIRLS SOCCER TEAM ON ITS EXCELLENT SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THE TEAM'S FINE ATHLETES ON THEIR IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2018 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION CLASS 1A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, supremely ready for the challenge, the Cambridge Academy girls soccer team captured the 2018 South Carolina Independent School Association Class 1A State Championship title, defeating Holy Trinity 1-0 on Friday, May 11, 2018, in Columbia; and

Whereas, as exultant Lady Cougar fans looked on, their soccer players picked up the program's first-ever state crown and hoisted the championship trophy. What made the victory even more special was that it was only the third year of the program's existence; and

Whereas, pausing in the midst of gleeful cheers, Cambridge supporters began making plans to watch their girls soccer team do it again at next year's title match; and

Whereas, such victories do not come overnight; they take determination and hard work. With proven consistency in both, Coach Robert Rooney has built his girls soccer program into one of championship caliber that refuses to settle for second best; and

Whereas, the journey to winning the state title required discipline, dedication, and teamwork, qualities that always will serve these young women well both on and off the soccer field. With admiration, the House recognizes and applauds the outstanding work of the Cambridge Academy girls soccer team and wishes its members much continued success in all their future endeavors. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, salute the Cambridge Academy girls soccer team on its excellent season and congratulate the team's fine athletes on their impressive win of the 2018 South Carolina Independent School Association Class 1A State Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Head of School Lori Anne Tunstall Hagood and Coach Robert Rooney of Cambridge Academy.
