A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF THE HONORABLE ISAAC C. JOE, SR., OF LEE COUNTY AND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS LOVING FAMILY AND HIS MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of the Honorable Isaac C. Joe, Sr., at the age of one hundred two on Tuesday, January 9, 2018; and

Whereas, born in Lee County on June 24, 1915, he was a son of the late Wiley and Minnie Hannibal Joe. He was further raised by his father's second wife, the late Annie Brown Cain Joe; and

Whereas, Isaac Joe earned a bachelor's degree from Morris College in 1940, and in the fine tradition of sons of the Palmetto State, he enlisted in the United States Army in 1941; and

Whereas, when he was discharged from military service in 1947, he followed a career as an educator and principal and earned a master's degree in 1956 from South Carolina State College; and

Whereas, after retiring from his career as an educator, Mr. Joe continued to serve his community and our great State as a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1981 to 1983; and

Whereas, a faithful member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church and known as a man of integrity, he served as a real estate owner and funeral director for a number of years; and

Whereas, together with his beloved wife of seventy years, Blanche V. Joe, he reared two fine children, Isaac C. Joe, Jr., and Bernard Joe. They blessed their parents with three adoring grandchildren: Veronica Joe, Sommer Joe, and Christopher Joe, and one great-grandchild, Autumn Myers; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the life and legacy of Isaac Joe, their trusted colleague, and for the example of service and kindness he set for all who knew him. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of the Honorable Isaac C. Joe, Sr., of Lee County and extend their deepest sympathy to his loving family and his many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Isaac C. Joe, Sr.
