A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE BUS DRIVER TERESA STROBLE AND TO COMMEND HER HEROISM IN THE COURAGEOUS RESCUE OF THE CHILDREN UNDER HER CARE.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize Teresa Stroble for her selfless actions in service to the children of this State; and

Whereas, on May 9, 2017, Teresa was driving a school bus full of children to Duncan Elementary, Beech Springs Intermediate School, and Byrnes High School when two students sitting at the back of the bus noticed smoke coming from the outside and alerted her; and

Whereas, it took Teresa less than a minute to evacuate all fifty-six students to safety, ensuring that no one was injured; and

Whereas, as she was trained to do, Teresa immediately radioed the transportation office to call 9-1-1, and firefighters were soon on the scene; and

Whereas, the students were Teresa's first priority, and their safety is a testament to her care and heroic actions; and

Whereas, Teresa handled the situation with precision and grace, remaining calm and keeping the students calm; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the pride and recognition that Teresa Stroble has brought to Spartanburg School District Five and her State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, honor and recognize bus driver Teresa Stroble and commend her heroism in the courageous rescue of the children under her care.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Teresa Stroble.
